The urban poetic writings are a lyric way of describing space. They contain memories, scents and sounds of the nature of the urban space, teaching us about the spirit of the place and takes us into the consciousness and the inner world through the filters of the writer.
That kind of expression allows us to wander in our imagination and to build the place on our own, as we pour our inner world into it and daydream the place through the song.
The contrasts that take place in songs such as Althermans' worlds: "At a combatant street, bleeding raspberry sunsets…" the disparity between the ways we experience the space, lead me to look after a place that has an intense feeling with extreme conflicts.
The projects takes place at the buffer between little Tel Aviv to the south of the city. The disparity in the urban character is shown through the population, grid and ttypology. The compound, instead of defragmenting the grid and creating an urban sequence, is detached and intensifies the disparity between one urban entities to the other.
I explored the relations between songs and architecture in a reading context, like the song, the reading of the space should be commentative and subjective, and architecture should allow the variation in the way we as individuals read the space.
Stripping the existing buildings, leaves the columns structure and the way the masses are placed in and between the structures, the content that pours itself to the song.
In the design I wanted to express the individual reading of space, and presented a creation of an urban space between and under the building, creating a conjunctive compound between the different parts of the city.
