The kibbutz is a unique phenomenon in the world, but the due to the expansion processes and changes in the Israeli urban-construction culture, the kibbutz lost a lot of its uniqueness, while trying, not very successfully, to adapt themselves to the new urbanism patterns

The "Mikbbutz" idea derive from an 80's plan to create a joint tissue for several kibbutzim, allowing shared services and infrastructure, while strengthening the connection between the different kibbutzim. The project is located between Kibbutz Shefayim and kibbutz Ga'ash. In both, the radial design is very clear, and one can easily detect its development and transformation. Both of them have been privatized, and they established a modern functions' shell, which is their main income.

The "Mikbbutz" idea is to transform the expansion of the kibbutzim to an organic one, which is aimed to reach an urban texture. To the shell of the "old kibbutz", layers of construction were organically added, which increasingly contributed to its core to be built; from the core out and from the outside back to the nucleus. The radial design of the old kibbutz condenses while maintaining the traditional kibbutz values . The flow and the development from the "old kibbutz" to the new developed area, offers the individual a choice, and a comfortable balance between the "kibbutz" and the "urbanism".
